Tiger Ties Jack in Tournament Victories, On Jack’s Course

Matt Sullivan/Reuters

Tiger Woods gets a Chip in birdie that brought back memories of the old Tiger on the 16th at the Memorial Tournament.     It was his steady play during the weekend and that shot that propelled him into the lead for good.Tiger had not won a Tournament that counted towards the Fed Ex Cup points in quite some time, so this was a much needed victory for him.    Not just for the standings, but for his confidence.      For the first time in months, after that win in Dublin Ohio, he finally looks ready to play and contend in a Major.    Though, I do not think he will win one this year, it was certainly nice to see him win a big tournament.

No it was not a major, but it was big because it was the win that tied him with Jack Nicklaus’s at 73 tournament wins,  he is still behind only Sam Snead whom had 82 victories.      He is still 4 Majors away from the other record that currently eludes him, but first things first.    He needed this win for his own piece of mind.

Here is the Final Leaderboard.

This could end up being a great boost for Tiger with the US Open coming up in a few weeks.    We shall soon see.

  1. Just absolutely incredible. Tiger isn’t known for his comebacks but I think this comeback is just what he needed for his confidence. He stormed his way back and deservedly took the tournament away for himself. To boot, he hit 2 beautiful, pressure filled shots on 18 to set himself up for that birdie that sealed the tournament. That’s all vintage Tiger right there. Coming up big when it matters most. Cannot wait for the US Open. Also, you think you could take a look over at my blog as I’d love to know what you think http://chrisross91.wordpress.com/2012/06/03/tiger-and-golf-are-one/
